A Few Reminders

Please have your child notify me they have to miss a lesson.  Call or text my cell phone. (214-457-0374).  I will be happy to try to arrange a make up lesson when possible.  But if I arrive for a lesson and no one is there, I'll have to charge for the time I spent.  This is especially important when I go to a school for only one or two students.  If I know of an absence in advance, I can try to reschedule for a different day.

Tuition is due at the first lesson of each month.  I will send a monthly reminder, along with your child's current amount due via email.  Tuition for the 2010-2011 school year is $17 per lesson.  The amount is set by the Fine Arts Dept., and all private teachers are required to charge the same fee.  You may pay by check, cash, or through Pay Pal.  An additional option for those who have requested it is 1 payment of $250 for the full semester (15 lessons).

Practice policy:  Almost all of my students are prepared for their lessons every week.  But a few are not. :-(

My expectations are that students put forth SOME effort each week in order to maintain forward motion and continued improvement in their playing.  If a student arrives for a lesson unprepared (meaning obviously no practice occurred the previous week) I'll have a heart-to-heart with the student about the importance of regular and effective practice.  If this happens a second time, I'll notify parents, and you can have the heart-to-heart!  A third occurrence will result in the student losing his or her spot in my lesson schedule.

Does this mean every note of the lesson has to be perfect?  NO!  It does mean that I want to see some effort at improvement each week.

Make sure students have good reeds at all times, but especially on lesson day.  It's hard to have a good lesson with a bad reed.  The closest place to buy reeds is Music and Arts in Allen.  My favorite online store (cheaper than most!) is www.1stopclarinet.com
